A Catholic priest is said to have led some notorious gang of robbers and kidnappers in carrying out their misdeeds.
The gang reportedly sealed off all entrances and exits of their place
of assignment: Imeohia Mmaku village in Awgu Local Government Area of
Enugu State.
The priest, Rev. Fr. James Ani, in company of about eight other people laid siege on the community.
Unfortunately for them, they were accosted by a team of anti-robbery
police which was on routine checks of remote parts of the state.
It is alleged that Fr. Ani commanded his gang of eight to launch an
offensive against the police team, an occurrence that shook the village
sending the villagers scuttling for safety.
The priest’s ‘troops’ were however overpowered by the security forces and consequently detained.

Fashola Apologises To Ndigbo Community, Says He Was Misunderstood

State Governor, Babatunde Fashola today tendered an unreserved apology
to the Ndigbo community segment that misunderstood him, whom he referred
to as his ‘kindred’ in a recent action of his administration, even as
he insisted that there was a need to discuss factors that could be
responsible for under-development in the South East.
Governor Fashola, who spoke at the Nigerian Institute of
International Affairs, Victoria Island venue of a symposium to mark the
25th Anniversary of the Igbo socio-cultural group, Aka Ikenga, said
although majority of Ndigbo in Lagos understood and appreciated the
action of the state government, it was obvious that some Igbos did not
understand it.
Chinese man has new nose grown on his forehead after losing his nose in a car crash

year old Chinese man named Xiaolian has had a new nose grown on his
forehead after loosing his original nose in a car accident. Xiaolian had the treatment to create a replacement for his original nose which was infected and deformed following the accident in 2012. He actually left his damaged nose unattended
to after the accident which led to the infection and eventual deformity, leaving the surgeons unable to repair it.
Surgeons in China were left with no option than to create another nose for the man to breathe properly and then transplant it to the original place. The nose was created by placing a skin tissue expander onto Xiaolian’s forehead. This was cut into the shape of a nose and was supported by cartilage taken from the man’s ribs.

Lagosians spend N36billion annually on parties - Governor Fashola
Lagos state governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, this weekend revealed that
more than N36 billion is spent by Lagosians annually to organise
parties. The governor said this at the 4th edition of the
Lagos Ignite Enterprise and Employability project,
a joint youth empowerment programme between the government and the
Afterschool Graduate Development Centre, AGDC.

“This was the study of night life carried out by the government in five local governments including Agege, Mushin, Ifako-Ijaiye and Ikeja and another local government. It showed that more than N36 billion was spent on 1555 parties held within the period. We did a study between October and November last year. We studied from Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, three days every week for four weeks which was 12 nights. In 12 nights, 1555 parties were held in these local governments. In terms of drinks, food and all other engagements during such parties, about N1.2 billion was spent and when we dis-aggregated them we saw how much went to DJ, MC, food and drinks, the total picture in the state now and I don’t want to give you a wrong number but it’s something in the region of about N3 billion monthly on that side of our life and people are playing and impacting on that side of our economy.The governor further stated that Aso Ebi alone gulped a minimum of N1.2billion monthly.

Amaechi-Led NGF Calls For Okonjo-Iweala’s Resignation
The Amaechi-led Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) has called on
the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr.
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, to resign her appointment or manage the economy
well.
They said the non-compliance with the revenue projections of the
Federal Government 2013 Budget, was a direct breach of the provisions of
the Appropriation Act, 2013.
These decisions were part of the resolutions of the Governor Rotimi Amaechi-led NGF, which met on Tuesday evening.
Amaechi, who read the communique of the meeting, said “Members expressed concern in the management of the economy by the Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy and called for a strict adherence to the Appropriation Act, 2013.

Fashola Gives Account Of His 2300-Day Stay In Office

You were said to have pulled out of your Law programme at the Lagos State University to face music. That decision paid off, but you seem not to be happy about it now?

I didn’t pull out because of music; I left school because I was unable to pay my school fees. While I was on the street, I gave hundred percent of my life to music and it paid off eventually.
When I was in school, I was just doing music for fun until I left school. At that point, I decided that I was going to face music passionately and from that point, things changed.
Gunmen have kidnapped the Most Rev. Ignatius Kattey, the Archbishop of the Niger Delta North Anglican Communion of Nigeria.
Most Rev. Kattey and his wife were abducted at Aleto in Eleme local
government area of Rivers state on his way to Port Harcourt the state
capital.
Sources say that the Cleric, who is the Dean, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion; second in Hierarchy to the Primate of the Anglican Church Nigeria, was going to Port Harcourt to receive a dignitary when the gunmen struck.
While the Archbishop’s wife was later abandoned, the Clergyman was taken away to an unknown destination.
